Yesterday, I made my first attempt and swam an 800 yd straight which is a half mile. That is the length for the triathlon. Mentally, I was psyching myself out to do it, since I have never swam nonstop that long, but once I did it, I realized how easy it was and that I can go so much faster than what I did. I really need to swim out in open water though, just to get a feel of that. Also, I will be wearing a wet suit, so I need to practice with that as well. Besides the 800, I swam a 1250 yd for my workout. I love feeling so much stronger each week than what I was starting out. It makes me so excited for this race!! I know completing it will be a huge success in itself, but if I could finish strong and with a good time, I'd of course be happy with that as well!!
On as side note, I've been upgrading a few things on my bike. It's in good shape, but for better comfort and riding, I replaced the saddle, changed the front handle bars with different brakes, and added handlebar tape to it. I also will be getting cycling shoes and pedals and as well as new tires. It'll be fun to have it all complete, thanks to my neighbor Todd, who is a huge bike person!! He has helped me tons!!!

good job. I would always spyche myself out. And then the real thing came and I freaked out but couldn't turn back. The adrenaline did help to just push myself to do it.
ReplyDeleteJust had a group of new athletes I coach in the open water for the first time tonight - they did great! Open water can make people really nervous, but it is really fun (I love to be in the outdoors). Just think of it like you are just in an outdoor pool...good luck to you this season. Triathlons are a blast! Feel free to stop by my site at www.blonderunner.com...I "tri" to post a lot of helpful informative info.
